Have you ever noticed…

Have you ever noticed…
That thankful people (and pups) don’t need as much?
They don’t worry about where the garden ends and the wilderness begins…
Their presence is soft, philosophical, and kind.

They know that pain is an old, old story…
And that sometimes they are up and sometimes they are down…
But they figured out how to stop a runaway brain with one little word…
Emptying their mind and finding peace.

For the thankful it is never fitting to call others names…
They are too immersed in the wonders of blessings…
They never shy away from a caring hug…
Because they are huggers themselves.

Today, let’s join the ranks of the thankful…
Enter into the collage of shimmering lights…
Lift our arms to the heavens…
Say aloud each of the gifts we’ve been given.

Here with the thankful, there are no complicated stories…
Just simple words and a picture on each page…
There’s no running straight into sadness…
Because that room in our heads is full of joy.
