I love the world as if it were myself…

I love the world as if it were myself…
Her phrases all pleasant poetry…
All I have to do is flick through the pages…
And revel at the view.

We were both made from God’s own hands…
Both having the love of living things…
Can you hear the joy around each echo?
It sounds like childhood.

You may think I’m strong, but I am not…
In my life, shyness mostly wins…
I have so many negative thoughts when I focus on the selfish part of myself…
They vanish when I extend a paw or lick a face.

These are the thunderheads pushing against my horizon…
Soon they will be gone…
My eyes will adjust to darkness turning it to light…
And once again I will see those unusually golden butterflies.

So, I hope this puts new courage in you…
It is simply that same campfire story we all know by heart…
Please, today see the world as yourself…
It feels like childhood…

I love you,

Annie
