Someone looked at old Charley the Labrador…
And said, “Look at that hang dog look on that pup!”
What’s a hang dog?
This bothered me so much I woke up with it spinning in my brain…
This is unusual because…
I usually don’t remember anything from yesterday…
Except the sun, the wind and the clouds.
Sometimes I think there are two different movies going on here…
Pups in this theater and humans in another…
The pup movie, all about our primal identity…
The human movie about an identity with an extra level of guilt.
It’s time to take a swig from each other’s jug…
To blunt the sharpness…
Snap the stretching silence…
And leave poor Charley alone.
Let’s stop all the name calling…
It really does make a difference (Charley didn’t wag his tail for a week…)
And focus on helping the unfortunate instead of picking on Charley…
He’s anything but a hang dog (even if I don’t know what that means.)
