This grass isn’t so bad

This grass isn't so bad

Today I’m going to make a confession

I hate cows!
They chomp and they moo and don’t wipe their butts!
Obviously inferior creatures
Can you imagine never learning the squat, drag and wipe method (first thing my mama taught me)

But my butler Jeff, tells me I’m not being fair
He says I need to skip a meadow in their hooves before judging them
So, today I’m going to try to understand
I’m going to start with chomping grass (refer to video)

Mmmm, this grass isn’t so bad
It’s kind of like a mixture of lettuce and earth
With a just a slight hint of possum
And some other seasoning (probably dog poop) that I can’t put my paw on

Then I tried to moo (I couldn’t moo) and not wipe my butt, and realized that this judgment of cows is only causing me distress
Aren’t we both born of the same being?
Wow, I’m hating half my life away
Maybe, my great, great, great, grand puppster was a cow!

This judgment is making me shorter than I already am
It’s like a slow torture wheel
Still, I just can’t bring myself to saying that I like cows
But, I’m working on it
Try not judging today,

Big lick

A small price to pay for adventure

The Price of Adventure

In a way, I’m kind of like Sponge Bob
Everything sticks to me
My butler, Jeffrey calls me “Swiffer”
But I have no idea what that means

It’s a small price to pay for adventure
For digging a hole, just for the sake of digging
Who knows what’s down there
I’m still looking for that bone I buried in 2013 (I know it’s around here somewhere)

I’m just following my natural rhythms
And they seem always to lead back to the dirt
You will understand, if you only dig your hands into this earth
The only thing bad, is afterwards you might need a bath (run!!!)

I know sometimes you are sad and tired
That’s because you are letting the wrong things stick to you
Detach yourself, rip off the bandaid, you’ll see the wound has healed long ago
Then, remember a childhood game and come teach me how to play

Love you,

Annie

My beautiful friend

Jeff and Annie

Even if I could, I wouldn’t make this earth over
How could I imagine more than all the astonishing myriads of colors?
A universe of everything and forever?
How could I improve on You, my beautiful friend?

It’s impossible for me to enjoy anything more than watching my butler Jeffrey feeding sticks into the flames to keep me warm
And then the wonder of the flames always going up (why do they do that?)
Their twirling and dancing
Ouch that stick is on fire! (Sometimes I can be too curious for my own good)

I love the forever question of, “Who am I?”
What? You don’t think that pups have souls?
We, like you, are just like the stars
We both live in this technicolor galaxy

How could I improve on the stones, the rocks and trees
My little bunny friend who I can never convince to come a little closer (he’s probably wise not too)
The soft beds of pine needles in the forest
Your beautiful smile

Yep, I think this world is pretty perfect
It is amazing how everything fits together
Like you and me
That being the sum of it all

Go out today and enjoy the world’s splendor!

Love,

Annie

How do I paint the sky?

Warm and Cozy Annie

Looking up I wonder…….

How do I paint the sky?
Capture that glow?
It seems that there is a brand-new planet right next door
Today I’m going find it

It has all the goodness of the kitchen pantry
With endless bones filled with marrow
Flowers, so many flowers
Flowers, bursting into more flowers

I’m so thankful that mother God has given me the ability to see it
All made from Her precious clay
Like a milk bone falling unnoticed out the box
It is right there for me to enjoy

It is everywhere
Up the stairs toward the river bank
Down by the water’s edge
All filled with the comfort that I seek

Oh how I wish you humans could see this.  It makes me wonder…….

Why do you humans’ breath out your life?
When there is so much to breathe in?
Move through life like a speeding train
Failing to stop at the quaint little towns along the way

Today, slow down, look up and consider painting the sky

A wink and a hug,

Annie

I exist for the sake of you

Annie

Good morning!

As I was eating my kibble this morning, I had a new thought
This may sound deep for a pup but think about it
I exist for the sake of you
You, for me, are like a slice of God’s favorite cake

If you listen closely you can hear it…….the sound of life
It is not a selfish noise
Can you feel that different kind of sensation?
Because in this place there are no feuds only forgiveness

You, for me, are like a bunch of strewed plates and leftovers….yum!
An afternoon nap in the muck
A softness I can give to heal your hurt
Because when I feel your pain my own disappears

When I dream, I dream only of your happiness
When you see me running in my sleep, I’m coming to help
Because there’s always a pup out there that doesn’t have what I have
And a few humans too….

A big lick in the face,

Annie

My name is Chrysathiman Shapiro

Chrysathiman Shapiro

Guess what!  I’m going to have my own book!
But I have a little problem
My publisher wants a bio of me
I’ve never done anything like that before, but here goes…..

My name is Chrysathiman Shapiro (nicknamed Annie)
I was born on August 10th, 2010
And my breed is a short legged Golden Retriever

I was born from the crustier end of the litter
Yep, my mama told me that there’s a difference
The first one’s out have all the spunk
My end contains all the sweetness

It felt like I was swimming through little bodies
They were pushing me aside to get to the light
I was second to last
My mama’s tongue was the first thing I felt in this world

I felt lost in this scary wilderness
I knew only one thing
How to reach for the highest divinity
My mama’s succulent breast

Everything was moving so fast
I thought, “Is it really safe to travel at these speeds?
To swim in such a powerful current?
My mama told me just to point my nose into it and let go!

“Come on,” she said, “move those little legs!”
With my eyes finally open, I did
And there, all around me, was the star shine
I soaked it in and then soaked some more

I told my mama that I felt like there was a bigger mama taking care of the world
She nodded and licked my head
She said, “Yes, you will get her know her well”
And you will like her because she has an unlimited number of breasts.

Since I learned that, all I do is drink in this wonderful world!

I hope I did okay,

Annie

Give my dice a roll!

Adventurous Annie

I’ve got an incredible nose, I believe it’s only second to the blood hound
It’s not only as cute as a button, it works really well
For example, I can smell all the wonderful scents in the bin under the sink
For you humans it is stinky, for me they are delicious

I smell the trees
I know what you’re thinking …
You think I’m only interested in smelling pee
Okay, yes that is my primary purpose, but I’m also smelling a little bit more

When I stick my nose into a bush
I can smell kibble and carrots and green beans (Everything having to do with bite-sized snacks)
I can also smell the stories that are embedded in fairy-tales
All mixed together with a touch of chocolate  (my favorite candy)

Really, I’m just trying to connect myself with the great outdoors
Consider it’s kindness
To wrap my head around the bigger picture
And bring it all into my own national park which is my soul

You humans need to consider all the wonderful smells around you
Because, too often, you consider a day good or bad by a roll of the dice?
For me, all of my dice are unnumbered
And when I roll them, they are anything I want them to be

Go ahead, give my dice a roll!

Love you,

Annie
