I can see you, seeing me…

I can see you, seeing me…
Feel how you are considering me…
Your eyes fading in and out of view…
Hoping to connect to my world.

I was afraid that you would never see me…
My heart, so often hidden in the sand…
Because no one takes me seriously…
Yet I’m smart, compassionate and real.

With your smiling approval…

I seem to be growing taller…
Flooded with beauty…
Somewhat exposed…
The canopy of black silk lifting.

You ask…

Where is your ship going?
Who is on board?
Are you an ancient mariner?
Please don’t disappear back into the horizon.

We all know…
Fear of being alone is worse than about anything else…
I can see you, seeing me…
And I thank you.

I love you,

Annie
